Human Biology is a Level five Zoology course of the BSc Programme. This course provides understanding of the special place the human, Homo sapiens sapiens, has achieved in the animal kingdom. It describes how the anatomically modern human evolved and emphasises the uniqueness of the human condition and characteristics. To provide a better understanding of how the human body functions and to help make decisions on human health and safety, this course also covers the different organ systems of humans and their interrelations. Thus, it covers a range of topics to help one grasp the essence of what it means to be human.

"Insect Biology ZLU3186" is a 3 credit course that learners can register at level 5 of their BSc degree programme, which requires no specific pre- requisites, but a good knowledge of Zoology courses at level 3 & 4. It provides an in-depth knowledge and understanding about insect biology, including a practical component. Learners are required to spend at least a total 150 hours of self study.

This course provides a broad understanding of structure, function, origin, distribution, taxonomy, adaptive radiation of major groups of mammals, their social and behavioral aspects.

Molecular Biology course is a level 6 Zoology course of the Bachelor of Science special degree program. It has a credit rating of 3, and is compulsory for the Zoology special students. There is no pre-requisites for this course. Molecular biology is the study of life at molecular level and deals with the DNA, RNA and protein structure and function in biological systems. The course will offer hand on experience on molecular biological techniques.
